In April 2010, Gezhtoojig Employment and Training launched a New Apprenticeship Initiative designed to provide a supportive link for Aboriginal people seeking  careers in the trades.

Through promotion and marketing, Gezhtoojig Employment and Training created an awareness of Ministry of Colleges and Universities' (MTCU) Apprenticeship Program with the intent of creating an increased participation by Aboriginal people in the four trade sectors : Construction, Industrial, Motive Power, and Service.
