Targeted Wage Subsidy

This program is designed to provide work experience and training to newly hired individuals. For apprentices seeking on the job work settings during their respective apprenticeships, this program provides a wage subsidy to employers providing on the job skills training.

Tools /Equipment

This program is aimed to ensure that individuals registered in an apprenticeship have access to the proper tools and safety equipment required to conduct their work safely.

Trade School Tuition

Each apprentice who participated in the in-school training is required to pay tuition. (usually about $ 400.00 to $ 600.00 per session) This amount can be covered for registered Apprentices.

Purchase of Training

Short term courses aimed a Trade preparation and certificate courses at recognized training institutes can be considered for funding after a counseling assessment has been conducted. Tuition, Books, Transportation and Living Allowances can be considered under this program.

Living Away From Home Allowance

Clients who are required to attend Trade School training in another community that is too far to commute to every day will be eligible for Living Away From Home Allowance for the duration of Trade School

Transportation

Costs associated with transportation to attend trade school can be considered.

Living Allowance

Clients attending trade school will usually qualify to collect E.I. benefits for the duration of trade school. In some cases clients do not qualify for E.I. and would then be eligible for a Living Allowance.

Mobility

Apprentices or Journeymen who are invited to a job interview may qualify for supports to enable them to attend out of town interviews. As well, supports are also available to assist clients for relocation costs to accept employment in other locales.
