Adam Osawamick

Heavy Equipment Operator Construction Sector

Adam Osawamick currently resides in Sudbury, ON and is a member of the Wikwemikong First Nation.  Adam graduated from Cambrian College in the Heavy Equipment Operator Technician course and holds certification in Backhoe, Bulldozer and Excavator.

Adam has been working periodically in the construction industry but found challenges in obtaining permanent employment, mostly due to the recession.   To increase his chances of gaining permanent employment Adam decided to build upon his past education and obtain further training.

In July 2010, Gezhtoojig provided funding for Adam for his Heavy Equipment Operator Grader and Loader licenses.  This Purchase of Training made available through Service Canada A.S.T.S.I.F. Apprenticeship funding assists individuals to overcome existing labour market barriers and equips individuals with the requirements sought out by employers.

Adam successfully completed his Heavy Equipment Operator licenses (Grader and Loader) in October 2010 with Transport Training Centres of Canada Inc. and has gained employment with a local construction company.  He started with his new employer on October 13, 2010.
